Redshirts receive donation from Inmate Veterans Group

Robert Losacco the Community Resource Manager at Pelican Bay Prison presents a $1250. check from The Inmates Veterans Group at the prison to Frank and Dave.

The Brookings-Harbor Redshirts want to extend a big “THANK YOU” to the Inmate Veterans Group of Pelican Bay State Prison. Recently we were contacted by Karla Bauer who leads the Inmate Veterans Group and by Robert Losacco, Community Resource Manager at Pelican Bay State Prison. They both arrived to help us pack some care packages for the troops on Thursday June 2nd at the Lighthouse Assembly of God Church in Harbor.

After we had all our tables set up and the items laid out for packing, Karla and Robert called for everyone’s attention.  They told us that each year the Inmates Veterans Group at Pelican Bay have a bake sale at which different food items can be purchased by the inmates. The proceeds are then donated to various non-profits and charities throughout the community. During these especially challenging economic times, the Inmate Veterans Group chose to donate 1,250 dollars from their bake sale to the Redshirts to help support the troops. In addition, they also donated to many other non-profits and civic organizations in our community.

We wish to again thank all of those involved, and commend them for their good work and deeds. Their donation will help the Redshirts this year with our “Christmas in July” project in which we will be sending many care packages to two different hospitals in Afghanistan as a thank you to our wounded warriors, the staff and military serving there.  Thanks also to our local Brookings-Harbor community for all of your support; you continue to make our mission a viable one.

Sincerely,

Frank Muller,
