It's Almost Christmas and It's Time To Give Our Heroes A Special Thank You!
Hello Redshirts, I hope this finds everyone doing well. Our meeting/potluck is next Friday Nov 4th at The Elk's Lodge at 6 p.m. November is our busiest month of the year. There were a lot of very nice ladies that showed up twice this week to make 200 ornaments for our troops. They came out AWESOME! Thank you ladies it was great fun! Thank you Alan (for the Chili) and to you and Celia for letting us invade your home. There was a great turnout of Redshirts at Fred's yesterday to accept our 40 DVD players. It was great to see so many participating. There was a nice picture in the paper. We are looking for DVD's to go with these players. If you have any laying around that you no longer watch please donate them to go to the troops. Here is an overview of what we have coming up: This Wednesday, November 2nd at 12 p.m. we will be meeting at Frank and Sandra Muller's for wrapping Christmas gifts for the troops. Just a reminder for all of you that signed up to help. Bring some wrapping paper if you can. This is the fun stuff! -Now the harder stuff! Our next packing is this Thursday the 3rd at 2 pm. Frank cannot be there and we will need more help this week. We have shopping covered and some help for setup but no one signed up for packing. Please try and come we can really use the help. -We will be packing with the Red Hats on Tuesday, November 8th at 1 pm. It is at the Harbor Fire Hall. Anyone is welcome to come and help. -Our Christmas packing is on Thursday November 17th. We will need a lot of help on this day. This will be our Christmas gift packing. We need someone to help Frank with shopping and a few people for setup and more for packing. -Our Christmas shipping is on November 25th, 8:00 a.m. at The Brookings Post Office. If this time changes I will let you know. -Now more fun stuff! There will be a Redshirt Christmas Party/Potluck, at The Elks, no business, December 2nd, 6 pm. It is really important to have social gatherings for a organization that are not all about club business where we can relax and just have fun and get to know each other better. It will be a potluck. The Club will have Barbecued Brats and Rolls with sauerkraut and the fixings. If your last name begins with: A thru H, Christmas desserts, cookies etc. I thru R, appetizers S thru Z, salads Anyone that would like to participate in a White Elephant gift exchange is welcome to do so. Keep gifts under $10.00. Make it easy, re-gift something you have, don't strain your brain thinking of a gift, it's all for fun. Thank you all for your kindness to our sons and daughters in harm's way. Remember the Holiday's are the hardest time of year for them. So, keep up the good work! Sharon
